Two-way metering (NET metering) is suitable for households that intend to use electricity produced in solar power plants for their own personal use and sell the surplus to the grid. If the electricity produced by solar panels exceeds the total consumption of household electrical appliances, the remaining amount is automatically transferred to the grid. In order for the amount for electricity resold to the grid to be automatically offset from the monthly electricity bill, it is necessary to sign a special micro-producer contract with the electricity supplier. If the amount of the electricity remaining from own consumption and resold to the grid is higher than the amount of electricity taken from and consumed from the grid, you will have an advance payment for the next month.

The sun shines in Estonia on average 1600-1900 hours a year. However, direct sunlight is not a precondition for the operation of solar power plants - daylight is also sufficient for electricity generation. Also, a cooler climate encourages the work of solar panels.

Energy is produced from light particles, which is why the solar station works even in cloudy weather. However, maximum productivity is achieved on a sunny day.

One of the reasons for the growing popularity of solar power plants is their simple operation and longevity. If the installation is done properly, there will be no additional maintenance costs either during the warranty period or also later on.

Solar power plants can be installed either on rooftops or on the ground. When installing on a rooftop, it is essential to assess the impact of the resistance of the roof to both, the weight of the plant and panels as well as forces of the wind. On the ground, it is important to ensure that the base frames of the panels are sufficiently and firmly attached to the ground as forces of the wind are especially strong on the ground.

In the Estonian weather, there is no need to wash solar panels under normal circumstances - this work is done by the rain. However, if desired, the panels may be cleaned with an ordinary window cleaning agent. In addition, bird droppings and other dirt that is not easily penetrated by light particles should be washed away from the panels. When washing, care must be taken not to physically damage the panels. The panels do not need to be cleaned even after snowfall. When the sun shines on the panels, they warm up and the snow melts off without any additional effort needed.
