Overview of state energy support measures

To alleviate the high energy prices, the state has introduced several support measures. Accordingly, many consumers are now asking whether their electricity bills are eligible for compensation. Here is an overview of new and previously introduced support measures aimed at reducing electricity bills.

1. 50% off the electricity network charge is still in force for home consumers;

2. Business clients get 100% off the electricity network charge from January until March;

3. From January home consumers also receive an electricity discount covering their consumption volume up to 650 kWh, starting at the rate of 12 eurocents per kWh (ex VAT).

The first network service support measure is valid from October 2021 until March 2022. It is automatically included in the electricity bill and the client does not have to do anything to obtain this support.

The second support measure is new and is valid from January until March. Business clients are thus exempt from 100% of the electricity network charge. A business client is a client who entered into their electricity contract with a registry code. If a home consumer operates under a business client contract, to receive this support they should submit an application to the Centre for Environmental Investments. More details are available here.

The third support measure is for home consumers only. The electricity supplier applies the discount and includes it in the electricity bill, so the client does not have to do anything to obtain this support. The support is calculated per consumption location, so if there are several consumption locations in the contract, you can receive separate support for each of them. This support measure is valid from January until March.

The third support measure meant for home consumers is also available to apartment associations and gardening associations. In January the support measure is applied without the consumption limit (650 kWh). February and March compensation measures are still being decided.
